Summer League 2018 Season Summary:

Premiership

Led by their Manager, Abdul Hamid, Bromley-By-Bow FC won back to back Premiership league titles. After their impressive 100% league title win in 2017, Bromley By Bow continued their dominance although they were involved in a much closer title race this year with the likes of BYM, Aberfeldy and Soul Youth challenging to the end. The midfield duo of Steven and Joshua were pivotal in the success of the team supported by Calvin and Reside in forward roles. The backline included superb performances by goalkeeper Amin and a defensive unit led by Imran and Dipon.

Championship

After 9 years absence, FC Brick Lane came back to the Summer League in good form having just won the Community Football League 2017/18 Premier Division league title. FC Brick Lane got promoted at the first time of asking as they won the Championship in style as unbeaten Champions. After being unluckily being relegated the previous season, SYA bounced straight back up in style as they finished runner up in the division.

League Cup

Having impressively knocked out Shadwell FC, Soul Youth FC and FC Brick Lane on route to the final, Aberfeldy FC were up against Championship runner up, SYA. SYA also had a tough run to the final having played Soul FC and two Premiership teams, ACE 05 FC and Premiership Champions Bromley By Bow FC. After a tense first half, the Aberfeldy FC power came through in the final stages of the game as they beat SYA 3-0 with the Premiership top goalscorer, Curtley, opening the scoring in the second half. Codey and Masum also got on the scoresheet for Aberfeldy FC.

Community Shield

The Summer League season curtain raiser is contested by the previous season’s league champions and the cup champions. Bromley By Bow FC as league champions faced Stepney FC, the cup champions. With the scores tied at 2-2, Bromley By Bow FC found the final push in the last 10 minutes to score two crucial goals to pull away from Stepney FC and won the Community Shield 4-2. It was the second ever Summer League Community Shield tie with Soul Youth FC having won it in the first year

Vets League

Newcomers Stepney Vets took the Vets League by storm from previous champions Shadwell Vets as they comfortably won the league as unbeaten champions winning 9 of their 10 league games.

The 2016 and 2017 Vets League Champions Shadwell Vets went up against the newly crowned 2018 Vets League Champions Stepney Vets in the Vets Cup Final at Mile End Stadium and it was Shadwell Vets who ran out as winners winning 4-2.
