BFA Projects - Project FootVol

Project FootVol is a 3 year project aiming to get 300 young people (16-25) year olds into volunteering or fill 300 volunteering opportunities in Tower Hamlets.  The project is becoming ever more popular with young people and volunteers have helped to deliver many local tournaments and activities during the last year.

Canon Street Youth Engagement Project

This is a new and exciting project funded by the Home Office to work with young people in gangs and criminal activities in the Cannon Street area of the borough.  The project aims to provide mentoring support to 14 existing gang members to make a change and do something positive with their life.  The project will also work with younger children 14-616 year olds to change their perception of gang culture and to steer them away from following the older gang members. The project will include workshops, 1-2-1 mentoring support, residential and visit to a prison.  Young people will be supported with job search and training opportunities.

Training & Employment Support

With funding from London Borough of Tower Hamlets we are offering personal development training and support to young people.  We are helping with job search, CV’s and interview techniques.  We are also offering capacity building support to member clubs on FA charter standard, fundraising and policies and procedures.  Also in partnership with The Bridge we are offering young people the chance to acquire NVQ Level 2 in office administration.

BFA Summer League - Starting Soon

The Summer League started in 1997 with 8 teams and after a decade has 42 teams competing in 4 divisions, with over 1000 people taking part.  The main aim of the Summer League was to provide diversionary activities for local young Bangladeshi people during the holiday period. Many were getting into anti-social behaviour, petty crime, drugs and vandalism.  It was also to unify the community and bring the young people together as there were high incidents of horrific gang violence between the different estates.
